Tree of Life - Diary of a Tapestry

The Tree of Life is a 3metre x 5.5metre tapestry designed by tapestry weaver Cresside Collette for the RMIT Spiritual Centre. It incorporates leaf elements from staff and students of RMIT and is being woven by a team consisting of three professional weavers and a number of volunteers. This blog records the progress of the weaving.

These are pictures of two more of the weavers on the tapestry. Hwa, in the top photo, did the RMIT Textiles course in 96/97 and has been doing her own tapestry work since then. She also did a year at the Monash Fine Arts course in tapestry where she met Cresside the designer of this tapestry.

Rosemary worked with Sue on a tapestry for the Flemington Primary School in 2001. She is mainly a knitter and embroiderer, and, as you can see from the photo, a very accomplished quilter.
